I am going to write about my most awaited trip. It was a girls trip, me and my two younger sisters. We had planned a trip to Uttarakhand in winters, as we wanted to feel the snow. So we decided to go to Auli. We started from Delhi, went to Rishikesh, then to Joshimath and from there we went to Auli.
We started from Delhi at night, reached Haridwar next day early morning, around 4 A.M. There we attended Ganga Arti at Har ki paudi ghat. It was 25th December and a very chilled morning, as winter was on peak.
We started our journey towards Rishikesh after attending the Arti. Rishikesh is just 20km away from Haridwar, so we got an auto rickshaw and reached there in one hour. We had pre-booked our hotel in Tapovan. I really loved the hotel, it's surrounding, it's service; view from our room was beautiful. I was very happy.
We freshened up and then left to roam around in Rishikesh. We started from Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh. I had never heard about it before. My sister decided to give it a chance, so we went there, and we actually enjoyed exploring that place.
Beatles Ashram is also known as Chaurasi Kutia. This ashram used to be a training center for students of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In 1968, rock band 'The Beatles' studied meditation there along with other celebrities. This was the band’s most productive period when they composed most of their self-titled double album, known as “White Album”. In 2003, this site was reverted to the local forestry department and after that, Beatles’ fans started visiting this place and hence got popular as “Beatles Ashram”.
This was the history, now will tell you about my experience. Beatles ashram is located near Lakshman Jhula. I really liked the place. This is like any other ashram, huge open ground with lot of small rooms, surrounded by jungle. Those room’s walls are painted beautifully, seems like students used to do paintings after their meditation (that’s what I felt after seeing those paintings). They are really beautiful. Here are some pictures I am uploading.
These are just the samples, this ashram is full of such amazing and beautiful paintings.
Other than the paintings, I loved the place, it is full of greenery that makes the place so fresh and energetic.
Below are some pictures of one area of the ashram. This is called "Chaurasiya Kutiya - 84 meditation chambers". I really loved this area, beautifully designed. Any one who loves to meditate, would fall in love with this place.
These are the pictures of the place used for residential accommodations for the course participants.
I really loved exploring this place. It took us approx 3 hrs to explore it fully. From Beatles ashram, we decided to go to jungle safari. Although this was not a good season for jungle safari in Rajaji national park, but we had time and everything else we had already visited in Rishikesh. So we decided to go for jungle safari. We hired a taxi from Beatles ashram to Rajaji national park. We got the safari's booking number from the security guards at Beatles Ashram. We got the chance to see many birds and deers there. It was fun.
Here are some beautiful encounters during the safari:
Here we ended our first day. We reached our room, tired but happy and slept satisfied. I loved the day in Rishikesh and was excited for our upcoming days.
